Presidio Day
Since 1994, when The Presidio became part of The Golden Gate National Recreation Area, it has been in a state of change. Army era land fills are being restored to natural coastal habitat, aging forests replanted and buildings restored and re-purposed.
One of the reasons I like to photograph here is because the process isn't yet complete. The park still retains areas untouched since the army left, many of which have also been reclaimed by nature.
Much of The Presidio will change and improve as it continues the transition to it's new role as a National Park. Watching and photographing the changes here keeps me working here. I hope that some of what I love about the park comes through in the images I make here.
